Regular Visits

After the investment of time needed on the first and second visits, many patients become concerned that every visit will be of equal length.

The average office visit is 15-20 minutes but obviously can be longer depending on which therpapy is needed and used.

The typical visit involves discussing your present status:

  • How are you feeling?

  • Are you experiencing any discomfort?

  • Are there any questions?

Dr. Shaw always encourages questions; the more you know about your body, the better you will treat it.

The actual treatment includes the chiropractic adjustment and is usually preceeded by a therapy which will relax the muscles. The therapy options include electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and massage therapy.

It is also important for people to strengthen the region, so exercises such for balance, stretching, and strengthening may be given.

Can those with osteoporosis get chiropractic care?
Of course. When developing a care plan, we consider the unique circumstances of each patient. There are many ways we can adjust the spine. The chiropractic method we select will be best suited to your age, size and unique situation.
What can a chiropractor do for asthma?
Many people think of chiropractic as exclusively dealing with the spine. But I'm interested in the spine because it covers the nervous system. Problems in the spine can produce problems in the organs and tissues controlled by the affected nerves—including those to the lungs and bronchial tubes. Find out how chiropractic care has helped those with asthma.
